11 Fall Farms in Virginia & Maryland I’m Taking My Family to in 2026 🎃🍎
Fall in Northern Virginia might be my favorite time of year. Give me crisp weather, apple cider donuts, kids covered in hay, pumpkins we absolutely did not need, and a cute family photo that took 47 attempts to get. 😂
This year, I’m making a fall farm bucket list for our family, and there are SO many great pumpkin patches and fall festivals within driving distance of Northern Virginia.
Whether you live in Loudoun County, Fairfax County, Arlington, Alexandria, or the greater DMV, save this list for those September and October weekends when you’re thinking, “Okay…what are we doing with the kids today?”
VIRGINIA 🍁
1. Cox Farms — Centreville, VA
📅 September 19 – November 8, 2026
This is basically the Super Bowl of Northern Virginia fall festivals. 😂 Cox Farms has its famous hayride, giant slides, farm animals, the Cornundrum cornfield adventure, rope swings, themed play areas and plenty of fall treats.
Even better: admission includes a patch pumpkin to bring home. Tickets are sold online and popular weekends can sell out, so this is one I’d plan ahead for.
Best for: A full-day fall adventure with kids.
2. Great Country Farms — Bluemont, VA
📅 September 19 – October 31, 2026
Pumpkin picking with a Blue Ridge Mountain backdrop? Sign me up.
Great Country Farms has a corn maze, wagon rides to the pumpkin patch, cider donuts, bonfires, pig races on weekends and plenty of room for the kids to run. Their pumpkin harvest runs through Halloween, and they’re open daily.
Best for: Loudoun County families + pretty fall scenery.
3. Round Hill Farm — Culpeper, VA
📅 September 19 – November 8, 2026
Round Hill Farm is celebrating its 30th Fall Festival in 2026. Expect pumpkin picking, hayrides, a barnyard petting zoo, pony rides and an anniversary-themed corn maze with an interactive scavenger hunt.
Best for: Making a whole day trip out of it.
4. Snead’s Farm — Fredericksburg, VA
📅 September 26 – November 1, 2026
This one looks SO fun for kids. Snead’s has unlimited hayrides, a corn maze, mountain slides, sunflower fields, farm animals, trails, play areas and massive sand piles.
It feels a little more like a true working-farm experience, which I love. Plus, weekend food vendors include apple cider donuts, kettle corn and other fall necessities. Yes, donuts are a necessity.
Best for: Kids who need to RUN.
5. Temple Hall Farm — Leesburg, VA
📅 September 26 – November 1, 2026
This one is practically in our backyard and absolutely deserves a spot on the list.
Temple Hall Farm's Pumpkin Patch & Flower Fields includes pumpkin picking, sunflowers, wagon rides, farm animals, inflatable jumping pillows and hill slides. Each paid admission even includes one pumpkin and sunflowers.
Best for: Loudoun County families looking for something close to home.
MARYLAND 🍎
Okay Virginia, we love you…but Maryland has some SERIOUS fall farm competition.
6. Gaver Farm — Mt. Airy, MD
📅 September 4 – November 1, 2026
With more than 65 family-friendly attractions, this may need to be an all-day situation.
There’s a seven-acre corn maze, jumping pillows, pedal karts, giant slides, animals, playgrounds, zip lines, hayrides, apple picking, pumpkins, sunflowers…and apparently very famous apple cider donuts. Challenge accepted.
Best for: Families who want LOTS to do.
7. Montpelier Farms — Upper Marlboro, MD
📅 September 12 – November 8, 2026
Another giant fall festival with more than 30 attractions including a seven-acre corn maze, hayrides, animals, slides, pig races, pumpkin bowling, playgrounds, bonfires and plenty of fall photo ops.
Bonus for dog families: friendly leashed dogs are welcome during their events and festivals.
Best for: A big family outing — pups included.
8. Butler’s Orchard — Germantown, MD
📅 September 19 – November 1, 2026
Butler’s Orchard is celebrating its 46th Annual Pumpkin Festival this year. The festival runs Wednesdays through Sundays with both weekday and weekend ticket options.
This is one of those classic DMV fall destinations that belongs on the bucket list at least once.
Best for: Classic pumpkin-patch vibes.
9. Summers Farm — Middletown, MD
📅 September 26 – November 1, 2026
Summers Farm has more than 45 activities, including its pumpkin patch, giant slides, wagon rides, fall photo spots and campfires. They also have select October nights with fireworks, which could be SUCH a fun twist on the normal pumpkin patch outing.
Best for: Turning your farm visit into an evening event.
10. Clark’s Elioak Farm — Ellicott City, MD
📅 Pumpkin Patch: September 19 – November 8, 2026
This one looks especially cute for younger kids. In addition to the pumpkin patch, there are farm animals, an Enchanted Forest, Fairy Forest, train rides, pony rides, wagon rides and play areas.
Best for: Toddlers and elementary-age kiddos.
11. Maryland Corn Maze — Gambrills, MD
The Maryland Corn Maze is exactly what it sounds like…but with way more than just corn. 😂
There are 30+ farm activities, including hayrides, a petting farm, hay pyramid, corn pits, zip lines and, obviously, the maze itself. Their site recommends checking the calendar for the exact dates you want to visit.
Best for: Corn-maze people who take their corn mazes seriously. 🌽
My Fall 2026 Family Bucket List 🍂
Will we realistically make it to all 11?
I’m choosing optimism. 😂
But I absolutely plan on checking a few of these off our list this fall, especially the ones close to home in Loudoun and Fairfax County.
If you’re new to Northern Virginia or considering moving here, this is one of the things I love most about living in the DMV: you can be minutes from restaurants, shopping, airports and Washington, DC…and still spend Saturday morning picking pumpkins on a farm with mountain views.
